Modernization & New Facilities

Wallenberg High School was originally built in 1953 as Fremont Elementary School. It has been operating as a high school site since 1987. In 2008 SFUSD retained DLM Architects to plans for various facilities improvements. The proposed plans include the following highlights:

• A new Main Entry Lobby design that compliments the original architecture while providing enhanced accessibility between the lower and upper levels.

• An approximately 7,600 square foot new facility that provides a new Library/Media Center, classrooms, restrooms and a Wellness Center serving the health needs of the student population.

• A new open air structure adjacent the fully renovated cafeteria / student center that provides additional covered eating area and provides opportunities for outdoor special events such as student activities and graduation.

• A fully renovated and landscaped upper level courtyard that enhances the sense of community amongst the campus population.

• Updated data technology services to enhance the learning experience.

• Improved accessibility for disabled individuals.

• New Interior finishes and color palettes to provide a more stimulating campus environment.

• Complete science lab renovation.

• Fully renovated toilet rooms.

• A partially renovated theater.
