Clean, sleek lines hint at the high-tech operations going on within the Barnes Academic Building. A combination of glazed reflective glass and high-gloss ceramic tile achieve the sleek look of the structure and serve to reflect its beautiful,k bluff-top surroundings overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Within these walls are equipment and training installation spaces for shipboard combat direction systems support activities. Natural, diffused daylight streams into classrooms and offices through the many north-facing clerestories. Ocean breezes are welcomed into the building via a natural ventilation system. The interior itself is of a modular and systematic design that will provide flexibility and room to grow for many years to come. Such a combination makes this project a fine example of superb design and technical excellence.
