A tribute to the past, the Recruit Training Facility at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot is designed in the Mission Spanish architecture developed by Goodhue in the 1920s. It's a style that carries on the depot's Spanish-style architecture, helping to instill in new recruits a respect for tradition. The architectural scheme is reflected in all of its elements, from the arched doors and windows to the clean lines of the red clay tile roof. Some 70,000 s.f. of lecture halls, testing areas and facility administration offices are contained in the Training Center. Inside each of its four lecture halls, audiences of up to 360 are instructed via state-of-the-art audio-visual systems. Defining the entire complex is a series of arched arcades, which guide circulation while gracefully framing courtyards and recruit forming areas.
