The construction work at Petaluma High School represented by this project was the first phase of a campus master plan to add to and renovate a small existing campus to house approximately 1800 students. Future phases will remodel existing structures and will also construct additional new buildings.

Faculty, students, and the community all participated in the planning and design processes.

The Science Bldg. / Locker Facility project involved two new buildings. The larger of the two is a two-story structure that houses the science, business education, and math facilities for the school. The smaller single story building provides new locker/shower facilities for PE students and staff. The east facing facade of both buildings alludes to the Victorian structures of old Petaluma, while the west edge of the buildings is much lower in scale relating to the track and athletic fields that are situated just beyond that facade. The curved roof provides a transition between the two different conditions.
