New Classrooms, Library/Media Center and New Track and Football Stadium
55,000 SF
The Torrey Pines High School Expansion project consists of approximately 55,000 square feet which includes new classroom space, a new campus library and media center, and a new track/football stadium with accompanying support facilities. The expansion completes the master-planned high school campus begun more than a decade ago.
The classroom buildings in teh expansion take full advantage of the local slimate by directing clerestory light into the classroom spaces through north-facing monitors and by providing courtyards in the heart of the building to encourage natural ventilation when cooling is desired. The structural members are clearly evident within and without the building. Carefully detailed structural members both express the form of the building and provide shade for south facing glass. Exterior and interior materials and colors continue the theme of the existing campus.
