Modern good looks and technology come together in teh corporate headquarters of Trade Service Publications, located in the Torrey Pines Science Park. A contemporary appearance is achieved through the use of horizontal lines and sloped glass windows, which envelop the building. White stucco of contrasting textures serves to accent the windows, while complementing retaining walls. Its location on a 6.5-acre, two-level site was planned with aesthetics and future growth in mind. the lower pad – which houses the warehouse and production area – is raised to provide improved views from the executive offices on the second floor. This design will also accommodate a planned three-story addition and a two-story parking garage. Innovative design features combine to create a building that is highly energy-efficient. Light monitors and interior light courts on the second floor provide natural illumination. Below, ths mass and bulk of the print paper rolls in the warehouse acts as a natural storage "sink" of cool air, from which the second floor draws its air-conditioning. On the building's exterior, sloped windows create a dramatic effect, while also reducing heat by reflecting sunlight to the ground.
